Our longest war is a war with hardly any news coverage

I have long thought that a major reason the Afghan war  is now our longest war, a war without end, is because the press has covered it so badly, both

from a policy standpoint and by not having enough news organizations and reporters on the ground in Afghanistan. This analysis  by John Hanrahan,  writing for the Nieman Watchdog,

is one of  the best I've seen that documents this crucial point of the press coverage that is MIA.   Hanrahan is the former executive director of the Fund for Investigative Reporting. The

Nieman Watchdog is published by the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University.
